No. 40 Puma Subaru Impreza, Subaru Puma Rallycross Team
STANDINGS: 13th, 22 points
POSITIVES: Mirra made the final rounds at both Charlotte and New Hampshire by virtue of finishing second in his heat races in each. He also has Subaru’s best finish of the season, a ninth place at Charlotte.
NEGATIVES: Unfortunately, Mirra has been just as snakebitten as teammate Sverre Isachsen, suffering accidents at both Charlotte and X Games that greatly affected his ability to race. He was also unable to compete in the New Hampshire final, barely making it through his heat race after having to jump the car with a flat tire.
OUTLOOK: With the way his luck has gone this season, it’s difficult to imagine Mirra scoring a top five finish, much less a podium. His lone reasonable attempt at a good final run was spoiled by Toomas Heikkinen, and it’s been all downhill from there. Mirra was supposed to be Subaru’s lead driver in 2012, but the words “Subaru” and “lead” don’t deserve to be in the same sentence after the first four rounds.
